Ann & Colin’s Engagement Session at Ambler Arboretum — A Story of Laughter, Sports, and Second Chances
There’s something so special about photographing a couple who can laugh together from the very first moment. Ann and Colin’s engagement session at the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University was filled with that kind of easy joy. the kind that makes every photo feel warm, genuine, and full of love. From the moment we started, it was clear these two were meant to be exactly where they are: sharing laughs, teasing each other, and soaking in this sweet season of life.
Ann and Colin first met in July of 2023 — thanks to a little modern magic from a dating app, Hinge. Colin actually slept through their first date (yes, you read that right!), but he made up for it quickly. As Ann shared with a smile, “He groveled a bit to reschedule for later that same night — and then joked about how it would be a great story to tell at our wedding one day.” How right he was! That funny, fateful start set the tone for a relationship built on laughter, connection, and a shared sense of humor that’s impossible not to love.
These two bonded over their love for Philadelphia sports — especially baseball. Ann’s favorite team? The Phillies, of course. And Colin, who once pitched in the minor leagues, knows his way around a ball field. Their playful, competitive side comes out in everything from golfing and bowling to trivia nights and mini golf battles. But they’re just as happy curled up on the couch watching sports, reality TV, or a good movie together. Their energy together is this perfect blend of cozy and fun — and it absolutely shines through in their photos.
When it came time for Colin to pop the question, he chose a place close to their hearts: their favorite local park. “There’s a spot that always makes us laugh,” Ann told me. “We ended up stopping there to talk, and after stumbling over his words for about five minutes, he asked!” The way she laughed as she told that story made it clear — this proposal was perfectly them. Sweet, funny, and heartfelt.
Their session at Ambler Arboretum reflected everything about who they are together. The soft golden light, the natural beauty of the gardens, and their easy smiles made every shot feel timeless. Ann had told me she wanted something simple — “where you can really feel the love just from looking at them.” That was exactly what we captured. From the classic “one smiling at the camera while the other looks at their partner” shot to those little in-between moments where they just melted into laughter, every image tells the story of two people who truly love being together.
When I asked what they want to remember about this time in their lives, Ann said, “Just how excited we were to get to experience life together.” And you can feel that excitement in every photo — that joy of new beginnings and endless adventures ahead.
