Shawna & Marty’s Stormy, Sunny, Perfect Day

There’s something extra special about getting to photograph your best friend’s wedding—especially when you’re also the maid of honor. On June 7, 2025, I had the absolute honor (and joy!) of standing beside Shawna as she said “I do” to Marty—and also of capturing her beautiful bridal portraits. It was a day I’ll never forget, filled with laughter, happy tears, a surprise storm, and one of the wildest, most fun receptions I’ve ever seen.
Shawna and Marty’s love is so real and easy to see. They’re the kind of couple that makes you smile just by being around them. Their day started with some rain—but then, just like magic, the sun came out, and everything felt even more perfect. It was like the weather was just adding a little drama to their already amazing love story.
The wedding was held at Tohi Woodland Resort, and it was the perfect mix of nature and celebration. Once the rain cleared, guests ran around playing lawn games, sliding down a water slide, and soaking up the sunshine. It felt like the perfect backyard party—only with way better outfits and so much love in the air.
And let’s talk about the reception—wow. Their DJ, ZT Audio Labs, kept the dance floor packed. Zach had people dancing (and singing!) all the way until 2 a.m. It was high energy, full of laughs, and exactly what Shawna and Marty wanted: fun, fun, and more fun.
There were so many sweet moments between Shawna and Marty. The way he looked at her during the vows. How they couldn’t stop smiling during their first dance. You could feel it—that deep kind of love that’s steady, silly, and strong.
From the storm clouds to the sunshine, the sweet kisses to the all-night dancing—this wedding was full of heart and joy. Shawna and Marty, thank you for letting me be part of your day in such a big way. I’ll never forget it, and I can’t wait to keep photographing your love story in the years to come.
